Free live masterclass · for widowed mums
“Is my child okay?”
“Why won’t they talk to me?”
“Am I saying the wrong things?”
“How do I hold them together, when I’m barely holding myself?”
How to talk to your grieving child
While grieving yourself
A free, live hour together on Zoom – where I’ll show you a simple, gentle way to open the conversations your child needs, without needing to have it all figured out first.
• Wednesday 16th September 2026 • 8pm UK time • Live on Zoom • Free to attend
You’re not alone in this
The hardest conversations arrive when you have the least to give.
When you lose your partner, you don’t just lose them. You lose the other person who would have known what to say to your child.
So now it’s you. Grieving, exhausted – and feeling a responsibility bigger than anything you’ve ever carried. Maybe your child has gone quiet. Maybe they say “I’m fine” and change the subject. Maybe you lie awake wondering if you said the right thing today.
Here’s what I want you to know: you don’t need the perfect words. You need a way in. And the moments to use it are already happening in your everyday life; in the car, at bedtime, while cooking or on the walk to school.
Inside the masterclass
One hour. Three shifts that change how your family talks about grief.
PART ONE
Relearn how to talk
Grief shuts conversation down – for children and adults. You’ll learn why the old ways of talking stopped working, and get a simple structure for what to say when you don’t know what to say.
PART TWO
Spot the moment
You don’t need to create the right moment – you need to recognise it. I’ll show you the three signals that your child has opened a small door, and the one sentence to have ready when they do.
PART THREE
Unfold the conversation
We think we know what our children are feeling. We usually don’t – and that’s actually freeing. You’ll learn how to keep a conversation open without fixing, rushing, or filling the silence.
WHAT YOU’LL LEAVE WITH
Not theory. Things you can use at bedtime tonight.
By the end of our hour together, you’ll have:
Free · Live on Zoom · Replay sent to everyone who registers
AT YOUR OWN PACE
What this hour is not
✗ It is not about doing grief “right”
✗ It is not about forcing big, heavy conversations.
✗ It is not about having answers for every question your child asks.
✗ It is not therapy – and no one will be put on the spot.
It’s a warm, honest hour about how families find their way back to talking – one small conversation at a time.
YOUR HOST
I’m Kirsten – grief coach, and a widowed mum like you.
When my husband Jan died, I had no framework, no training – just two grieving daughters and no idea how to talk to them about what had happened to us.
Everything I teach, I first had to live.
The Mirror Method grew out of those years: the everyday conversations, the ones I got wrong, and the small discoveries that finally got my girls talking. Today I combine that lived experience with my psychology background to help widowed mothers across the UK do the same – without pressure, scripts, or pretending to be okay.
IS THIS FOR ME?
You are so welcome here if…
✓ You’re a widowed mum wondering how your child is really doing
✓ Your child has gone quiet – or says “I’m fine” and closes the door
✓ You worry about saying the wrong thing, so sometimes you say nothing
✓ You’re carrying your own grief while trying to hold space for theirs
✓ Your loss is recent – or years ago, and the conversations still feel stuck
✓ You’d rather listen quietly than speak – cameras off is completely fine
